Organic apricot kernel oil cold pressed

Gustav Heess

Our cold-pressed organic apricot kernel oil comes from apricot trees grown in small plantations. These plantations are usually located on slopes and plateaus to prevent cold air from accumulating at lower altitudes, which could lead to late frost. To increase ecological diversity, improve soil quality and increase resistance to pests and diseases, the soil around the trees is used to grow vegetables, cereals or apple trees in the early years. Natural pollination of the blossoms in spring is carried out by wild bees and honeybees.

The apricots are harvested in July and August. The ripe fruit is carefully picked by hand or by machine. To protect the fruit from damage, the ground is covered with tarpaulins beforehand. After harvesting, the apricots are dried in the sun for a few days before the almond-like kernels are separated from the flesh by hand. The remaining pulp is dried further and sold as dried fruit.

The apricot kernels obtained in this way are first cleaned and then cracked with rollers to separate the valuable kernels from the shells. While the shells are used as fuel, the kernels are used in the food industry or are further processed to produce oil. The oil is extracted from the kernels by mechanical cold pressing and then filtered to remove impurities. The resulting press cake is used as nutritious animal feed and contributes to the sustainability of our entire production chain.

After arrival in Germany, we subject the cold-pressed organic apricot kernel oil to a strict final inspection in our DIN ISO 17025-certified laboratory at our headquarters in Leonberg. The entire production process follows strict environmental and social standards to ensure the quality of the product and the protection of the ecosystem.
